5 Places To Explore in Southeast Pennsylvania

Hello, fellow travelers! Southeast Pennsylvania is very close to where I live, only a stone’s throw away. There are so many places to explore in the region, including Philadelphia, Lancaster County, and more!

Peddler’s Village

Peddler’s Village is a shopping village, much like Olde Mistick Village but slightly bigger. Peddler’s Village offers more than 60 small shops and restaurants. This quaint little shopping village is located in Lahaska in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Peddler’s Village is an hour outside of Center City in Philadelphia. Every October, they hold a scarecrow competition made by locals in the area.

Philadelphia Flower Show

The Philadelphia Flower Show always takes place around March and it’s almost always held in the Pennsylvania Convention Center located on Arch Street. Located a mere block away from Reading Terminal Market, the Flower Show costs a pretty penny ($35 per ticket), but it’s well worth it to see the beautiful arrangements.

Independence Hall

Independence Hall is a historical civic center in the Independence Hall National Park located in Philadelphia. Independence Hall was originally called the Pennsylvania State House in the 1700s. Philadelphia was actually the capital of the Province of Pennsylvania back then, and was the capital of Pennsylvania following America’s independence from Great Britain.

Chinatown

Chinatown is located close to the Pennsylvania Convention Center and unlike most Chinatowns like New York and Boston, it has experienced exponential growth of Asian immigrants, particularly Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, and Indonesian immigrants.

Longwood Gardens

Out of all the places in Southeast Pennsylvania, Longwood Gardens is my favorite place. Longwood Gardens is one of the premier horticultural gardens in the United States, and is more than 1100 acres. The garden contains many smaller gardens, but my favorite part is the conservatory, which contains thousands of flora species. It’s also nice and toasty in the winter.
